Meet the Mobile Assistance Center

From the panhandle to the Red River Valley – we’re on the road to a healthier Oklahoma!

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) Mobile Assistance Center (MAC) focuses on meeting Oklahomans in the places they call home. The MAC provides one-on-one assistance with important health insurance questions consumers face.

The MAC travels statewide with two innovative mobile kiosks, based in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, designed to assist multiple people at once in a face-to-face setting. Equipped with built-in seating, six securely docked iPads with Internet access, and a large screen with audio and video capabilities, the MAC unit has the right tools to provide great customer service.

The MAC’s mobile capabilities allow for broader accessibility, more flexibility and the opportunity to engage with unique communities including rural and tribal areas. The MAC team’s outreach efforts include hosting community events, visiting health fairs, participating in health and insurance seminars, and responding to communities in need.

During times of natural disaster or emergency, the MAC can be activated as a mobile response unit, and can travel to a central location to assist both members and non-members who may have been impacted by a natural disaster. Assistance provided by the MAC includes: printing new ID cards for members, helping members get lost prescriptions filled, handing out supplies, and offering a mobile phone charging station and Wi-Fi hotspot for first responders and victims to access the internet.

During the annual Open Enrollment Period, the MAC is available to explain the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, to help customers with the online enrollment process and find out if they qualify for financial assistance.

To date, the MAC has traveled more than 60,000 miles across Oklahoma, assisted more than 32,500 people with insurance-related inquiries and participated in an average of over 200 events per year.

The MAC team travels across Oklahoma throughout the year to assist our members, and we’d like you to get to know the community outreach specialists working in our communities.

 Christian
Christian has worked for BCBSOK for over 10 years and joined the MAC team as a Community Outreach Specialist in 2014. Christian’s daily responsibilities include finding ways to improve the member experience, educating Oklahomans about the importance of health care and working to decrease Oklahoma’s uninsured population. “My favorite part of my job is that it allows me to work with people throughout the state and be a resource for Oklahoma’s communities,” said Christian.

 Jeannie
Community Outreach Specialist Jeannie joined the MAC team in April 2016. Jeannie is knowledgeable of the various individual and group plans offered by BCBSOK and her passion is to help people navigate and understand health insurance. "I know how difficult it can be shopping for health insurance,” said Jeannie. “That’s why we’re here to help answer questions and identify plans that best fit their needs.”

 Darci
Darci served in a variety of customer service roles during her decade-long career with BCBSOK. In early 2017, she brought her expertise to the MAC team in her role as Community Outreach Specialist. Darci said, “I’m excited to be a part of the MAC team and incorporate my knowledge of health benefits and claims customer service. I look forward to visiting communities throughout the state to serve as many people as possible.”

 Ricky
Ricky started with BCBSOK in July 2017, and has more than 20 years of experience in the health and wellness industry. Ricky holds a degree in dietetics and has a strong passion for helping people live healthy lifestyles. He believes it’s important to provide a great customer experience while educating members in finding the best path for them. “I’m happy to be able to help people navigate their health insurance needs and give them that peace of mind,” said Ricky. “Our MAC team helps provide the resources so our members can have access to the care they need to live their best life.”
